National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli, popularly known as NIT Trichy was established in 1964. NIT Trichy is an autonomous university, located over a campus area of 800 acres. NIT Trichy Campus Infrastructure
There are a whole lot of NIT, Trichy facilities that are provided to its students and staff members. The top class amenities provided to the students makes the stay in NITT a memorable experience. The presence of modern facilities at NIT Trichy ensures the academic growth of the students in a comfortable and easy way. Some of the National Institute of Technology, Trichy facilities are hostels for both boys and girls with a total capacity of 5797 students. The NIT Trichy hostels also have the facility of a mess. Boys Hostel– The institute has a total of 22 boys hostels. Each hostel is managed by a warden. The first year UG boys’ hostels have two resident deputy wardens. Medical/Hospital– The institute has a hospital situated within the campus. The NITT hospital provides primary health care round the clock on all the days. The hospital has casualty, OP & IP facilities along with an ambulance for 24 hours. 
Library- The institute has a modern Central Library with more than two and a half lakhs of documents consisting of technical books, reports, standards, CD-ROMS, Audio Visual Educational Cassettes, and back volumes of journals. The library subscribes to 83 periodicals (print) plus 8210+ e-Journals and 1995+ e-books besides a holding of 17690 back volumes of journals. The library also contains 16,750 books in the Book Bank scheme. There is also a Digital Knowledge Centre with multiple computers that allows students to read online journals in the library.
Sports– The institute has a multi-facility multi-disciplinary sports complex that helps in enhancing the overall personality of the students.The building has an indoor stadium with two shuttle courts and a fitness centre. The institute also has two indoor stadiums. There is also a beautiful swimming pool of 25 metre length. 
I.T Infrastructure– The computer centre houses 7 labs with 600+ computers and 40 high-end servers providing LAN connection to 7500 users across the campus.
Auditorium- The college has an auditorium for hosting events and seminars.
Guest Room/Waiting Room– There is also a guest house in the campus for the waiting parents and staff. 
Transport Facility- The Transport Section of NITT is managed by a transport committee under Dean in order to help the students and staff. NITT has 4 buses, 1 Swaraj Mazda, 1 Tempo traveller, 1 Indigo Car, 1 Bolero, 1 Eicher, 1 Omni and 1 Ambulance.

NIT Trichy Fest & Events
The College calendar is interspersed with numerous events whether technical or cultural, at inter departmental level or inter college level. The organisation and execution of most of these events is handled by students themselves guided by the faculty incharge. Here is a brief overview of the various events that form a part of the annual lifestyle of a NITTian.
- Pragyan – Technical Festival – Pragyan is one of the biggest technical festivals in the country and showcases the talent of students from various colleges across the nation. It is acclaimed for the diverse experiences and opportunities it offers for technology enthusiasts.
- Festember – Cultural Festival – Festember is the annual cultural festival of NIT Trichy. What began as a zero-budget intra-college fest in 1975 soon transformed into a 4-day long cultural extravaganza, drawing in participants from all over the country and living up to its name as a fest to remember.
- NITTFEST – Inter Departmental Cultural Festival – The foremost example of this philosophy is ‘NITTFEST’ – an annual extravaganza of fine arts!
