JoSAA 2020 – Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will be responsible for the conduction of JoSAA 2020. The registration process of JoSAA 2020 is expected to start from October 6. JoSAA 2020 website has been opened on September 10 mentioning all the details about procedure and schedule. While registering for JoSAA 2020, the candidates will also have to select their choice of courses and colleges accordingly to their eligibility. JoSAA 2020 is held to provide admission into NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and IITs to eligible candidates. It is to be noted that all candidates are required to have qualified JEE Main or JEE Advanced to participate in JoSAA 2020. During the counselling of JoSAA 2020, two rounds of mock allotment will be held to help the candidates make the correct choices for the real allotment rounds. JoSAA 2020 will be conducted in six rounds. The seat allocation result of JoSAA 2020 will be released in online mode for every round. JoSAA Counselling 2020 – Process and Steps Involved
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority conducts JoSAA counselling to allot seats in IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. The Joint Admission Board (JAB) formulates the policies for seat allocation in IITs while Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) in NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. JoSAA is the counselling authority which consists of representatives from JAB and CSAB and conducts the counselling.

Students who qualify JEE Main 2020 and/or JEE Advanced 2020 are eligible for participating in JoSAA counselling. Students have to register and fill choices in online mode for participating in the counselling. The detailed procedure for JoSAA counselling 2020 is described below

Step 1 – Registration for the counselling: Students have to register in online mode for participating in the JoSAA 2020 counselling. Registration process includes filling the online registration form by providing the JEE Main 2020 registration number and password. Students can also modify their password and contact details at this stage.APPLICATIONS OPEN NOW
Step 2 – Choice Filling and Locking of Choices: After completing the registration, students have to login and fill choice of colleges in order of their preference. Filling of choices have to be done within the stipulated time interval in order to be considered for JoSAA counselling 2020. Students are provided a time interval of ten days to fill and lock their choices.
Step 3 – Mock Seat Allotment: The JoSAA authority also conducts two rounds of mock seat allotment before the final date of choice filling and locking. Mock seat allotment is conducted to help students understand what colleges they might be getting based on the choices filled by them. Students can also modify their filled choices based on mock seat allotment. Students must note that they will not be allowed to modify the choices after locking of choices and after completion of last date of choice filling and locking.
Step 4 – Seat Allotment Result: The authority of JoSAA counselling 2020 will announce seat allotment result online. Students have to login using their application number and password to check the seat allotment status of JoSAA counselling 2020. Students have the option of either accepting the the allotted seats with not willing to participate in the next round or accept with willing to participate in next round or reject the allotted seat with not willing to participate in the next round counselling.
Step 5 – Payment of Seat Acceptance Fees and Download of Provisional Seat Allotment Letter: Students who will be allotted a seat have to download their seat allotment letter. Students have to login using their application number and password for downloading their seat allotment letter. After downloading the allotment letter of JoSAA 2020 counselling, students have to pay Rs.35,000 as seat acceptance fees ( Rs15,000 for reserved category). Fees can be paid in online mode or through e-challan.
Step 6- Reporting to the Reporting Centres: Candidates have to visit the reporting centres for document verification. Candidates have to carry all their original documents along with two sets of xerox copies.The officials in reporting centres will verify the original documents and will submit the xerox copies. Students will be issued the acknowledgement letter post document verification. Candidates must note that it is compulsory to report at the reporting centres for documents verification within dates specified in allotment letter failing which the admission will get cancelled. Step 7- Confirmation of Admission: Students have to finally report to the allotted institute for the confirmation of admission. The last date for reporting to the allotted institute will be mentioned in the seat allotment letter. Students have to report to the allotted institute within specified dates failing which their admission will get cancelled.
