Located on the coastal belt of Karnataka, the National Institute of Technology Karnataka is on the National Highway 66. It is about 22 km from the city of Mangalore and is towards Udupi. The university is 19.4 km from Mangalore International Airport and 19 km from Mangalore Railway Station. The Surathkal Bus Stop is 3km from the campus.

The university offers 54 courses in total. NIT Surathkal courses are offered in engineering, science, management etc. streams. The university offers courses at three levels: undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral. National Institute of Technology Surathkal courses are B.Tech, M.Tech., M.B.A., M.Sc., M.C.A. and Ph.D.

NIT Surathkal Campus Infrastructure
The university caters the needs of the enrolled students and its faculty members along with staff by providing an array of infrastructural facilities, that extensively comprises of- shopping complex, staff club, medical facility, banking facility, post office, hospitals, cafeteria, guest house, sporting complex and others. The students can easily access the NITK Surathkal facilities as per their own convenience. The 295.35 acre campus has easy commuting and has the provision of transportation.
In the National Institute of Technology Surathakal, the students are provided with world-class infrastructural facilities and make sure the students develop in a more comprehensive way. NIT Surathkal facilities provide a good university experience during their years of study at the campus. Further, NIT Surathkal facilities help in the holistic growth of the students.
Boys Hostel The college has boy’s hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students. 12 Boys Hostel – 2893 rooms.

To see the development the students need a full-fledged Physical Education and Sports Department that consists of- one Assistant Physical Director and two students’ sports and activity officers (SAS Officers).
I.T Infrastructure CCC has contributed in designing and building a good IT infrastructure for the Institute. CCC strives to make this infrastructure adequate to the academic need, by providing quality IT services from the user perspective to support teaching, learning, research and innovations. CCC maintains the campus network backbone connectivity and internet connections on a 24×7 basis. Besides this, CCC LAN is available for curricular and co-curricular activities for 12 hours on weekdays and 8 hours on weekends and general holidays. The CCC occupies the ground and first floor of the building opposite to the Silver Jubilee Auditorium. CCC was established in 1995 as a service providing/supporting facility that augments to the computing facilities in the teaching departments.- Cafeteria The National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal has two canteens and four cafeterias dedicated to catering to its students and professionals.
