- While preparing for the CBSE class 12 board exam Important questions for class 12 physics can help you a lot. Use the following tips to improve your score.
- Before starting your preparation read the syllabus of CBSE class 12 physics.
- Revise mechanics part of class 11 physics.
- Always make your class 12 physics notes try to write all important points.
- Make a different note for important physics formula and derivations.
- Five marks questions in CBSE class 12 physics are directly from the derivation given in the NCERT physics textbook, so make sure you have learned all derivations.
- NCERT text book and NCERT exercise are must , so solve all questions and numerical given in the exercise of class 12 physics.
CBSE pattern for class 12 physics
CBSE Class 12th board exam papers consist of 37 questions in the year 2019, although from 2020 the pattern will be slightly changed.The question paper of physics has four sections such as Section A, Section B, Section C, and Section D. Section A contains twenty questions of one mark each may be from 2020 this part consists of objective questions as well , Section B contains seven questions of 2 marks each, Section C contains seven questions of three marks each, and Section D contains three questions of five marks each.
There is no overall choice. However, internal choices have been provided in two questions of one mark each, two questions of two marks, one question of three marks and three questions of five marks weightage. You have to attempt only one of the choices in such questions.
- Chapter 1 – Electric Charges and Field
This is the 1st chapter of NCERT Class 12 Physics.In this topic you will learn the details about types of electric charge and its associated fields, additivity of charges, transference of electrons ,charge conservation ,charge quantization, Gauss’s law, like this you will learn almost 13 different subtopics which are important for CBSE class 12th board exam with lots of derivations.
- Chapter 2 – Electrostatic Potential and Capacitance
This is important chapter for your class 12 board exam , read carefully from the important questions for CBSE class 12 physics it consist of almost 17 sub topics in NCERT text book and the most important subtopics are electrostatic potential difference between two points in an electric field, Relationship between electric filed and potential,factors effecting electric fields . potential energy associated with electric field.
- Chapter 3 – Current Electricity
This topic is explained in NCERT very nicely read the theory from NCERT textbook solve all questions given in the textbook few important subtopics which required additional attention are drift velocity, Ohm’s law electric current and its derivations, different relations between resistance.
- Chapter 4 – Moving Charges and Magnetism

- Chapter 5 – Magnetism and Matter
This topic is extension of chapter 4 and consist of almost 7 subtopics as per the CBSE class 12th board objective questions are asked in previous year from this topic.few important subtopics in this chapter are bar magnet, Gauss’s Law, earth’s magnetism, properties of magnetic field lines.
- Chapter 6 – Electromagnetic Induction
This chapter consist of details about Electromagnetic Induction. And consist of almost ten subtopics to be covered from NCERT textbook. Important subtopics to be covered in this chapters are magnetic flux, 1st and 2nd law of faraday’s law of Electromagnetic Induction. Lenz’s Law & Fleming’s Right Hand Rule.

- Chapter 7 – Alternating Current
This is important chapter in term of several derivations which are important and consist of 7 subtopics few important subtopics are AC and AC voltage applied to a resistor, LC Oscillations, transformers.
- Chapter 8 – Electromagnetic Waves
NCERT textbook explain very well theory of this chapter few important subtopics which need to read carefully are Maxwell’s Equations of Electromagnetic Waves, use of electromagnetic wave and its applications, displacement current.
- Chapter 9 – Ray Optics and Optical Instruments
This is conceptual chapter need additional practice of numerical and read the theory of Refraction, and Refraction, Refection of Light by Spherical Mirrors, Ray Optics & Optical Instruments, refraction and dispersion by a prism.
- Chapter 10 – Wave Optics
Before reading this chapter make sure you have clear concepts of chapter-9 after doing chapter-9 read this chapter there are 8 subtopics in this chapter few of the important subtopics are Huygens Principle & Refraction and Refection of Plane, Waves using Huygens Principle, Young’s Experiment, Polarisation.
- Chapter 11 – Dual Nature of Radiation and Matter
