JEE Main 29 January shift 2 paper analysis by FIITJEE

Subject-wise level of difficulty as per feedback from students on 29th January 2023 afternoon session

Mathematics: Moderate Level. Weightage was given to chapters of Algebra and Calculus. Questions asked from Parabola, Ellipse, Definite Integrals, Area, Differential Equations, Matrices, Probability, Determinants, Vectors, 3D Geometry, Binomial Theorem, Complex numbers, Progression Series. Both MCQs and Numerical Based questions required lengthy calculations. This section was Lengthy & Tricky as per few students.


Physics: Easy to Moderate level. Weightage given to chapters of Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Heat & Thermodynamics, SHM & Waves, Current Electricity, Electrostatics, AC Circuits, Modern Physics, Semi-Conductors and Magnetism Numerical based questions were reported as Easy. This section was balanced but had many tricky questions.


Chemistry: Easy to Moderate level. Physical Chemistry was given more weightage in Numerical Section as compared to Organic & Inorganic Chemistry. Weightage given to Alcohols, Ethers & Phenols, Aryl & Alkyl halides in Organic Chemistry. Ionic Equilibrium, Mole Concept, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics. Inorganic Chemistry had questions from s-block, p-block, Chemical Bonding and Metallurgy.
In terms of order of Difficulty – Maths was Moderate while Physics & Chemistry were Easy to Moderate Level. Overall, this paper was Moderate level as per students.  

JEE Main 29 January shift 1 paper analysis by FIITJEE

The physics questions, as per FIITJEE expert, were the easiest.

  • Easy Questions asked from Kinematics, Friction, Laws of Motions, Heat and Thermodynamics, Electrostatics, Magnetism, AC Circuits, Current Electricity, Surface Tension, Gravitation, Rotational Motion, Friction, Wave Optics, Semiconductors and Communication Systems.
  • Few Numerical based questions were Easy.
  • Overall, this section was balanced as per students.

According to FIITJEE expert, the JEE Main Chemistry questions were easy to moderate.

  • Easy to Moderate.
  • More weightage was given to Inorganic and Organic Chemistry.
  • Numerical Based questions were mostly from Physical Chemistry – Electrochemistry, Mole Concept, Ionic Equilibrium.
  • Questions covered Chemistry in Everyday Life, Environmental Chemistry, Co-ordination Compounds, Aldehydes and Ketones, Hydrocarbons, Biomolecules, Chemical Bonding, Solutions, Atomic Structure.
  • Fact based questions from NCERT were easy.

According to Ramesh Batlish, Centre Head-FIITJEE Noida Centres, the JEE Main 2023 Maths paper was moderately tough.

  • Moderately Tough Questions were asked from all chapters with emphasis on Chapters of Conic Sections and Algebra.
  • Some good questions asked from Straight Lines, Circles, Hyperbola, Binomial Theorem, Complex Numbers, Statistics, Mathematical Reasoning, Probability, Matrices, Progressions, 3 D Geometry, Definite Integrals, Area under Curves, Differential Equations.
  • Few questions in MCQs were reported Lengthy and Tricky.
