Apart from JoSAA – 2026 rounds, CSAB – 2026 is also responsible for the following centralized seat allocation processes.
1. CSAB Special Rounds: Upon completion of JoSAA – 2026 rounds, if any seats remain vacant in the NIT+ system (excluding seats of IITs), 2 special rounds called CSAB Special Rounds are conducted by the CSAB – 2026 through its own online portal CSAB
2. CSAB Supernumerary Round: The CSAB Supernumerary round counselling is conducted by CSAB – 2026 through its online portal (https://csab.nic.in) for admission to supernumerary seats in selected NITs (NIT Durgapur, NIT Calicut, SVNIT Surat) for candidates with state of eligibility as Union Territories of Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Lakshadweep & Kandvi, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
3. CSAB NEUT Rounds: CSAB – 2026 also conducts CSAB NEUT rounds through its online portal CSAB to allocate seats of AICTE approved Institutes under the scheme of “Reservation of seats in Degree Level Technical Courses for States / UTs lacking such facilities in the AICTE-approved institutions” to candidates of the North-Eastern states and Union Territories.

CSAB Special counselling Dates
The CSAB Special Round 2026 schedule has been officially released for candidates participating through DASA (UG) and CSAB Special Rounds. Fee Adjustment Rules
- Out of the Special Round Enrollment Fee, ₹5,000 is the Processing Fee which is non-refundable and non-adjustable in the fee of the allotted Institute.
- Special Round Enrollment Fee (after deduction of ₹5,000) and Seat Acceptance Fee paid by the candidates will be adjusted in the Institute Fee.
- For candidates who have deposited the Fee in any of the IITs, if allotted a seat in the Special Round, the fee deposited during JoSAA rounds will NOT be adjusted in the fee of the newly allotted Institute in Special Round. Such candidates will have to claim their fee from IITs as per the refund policy of IITs.

Refund Policy
- If a candidate opts to withdraw the seat allotted in NIT+System in JoSAA rounds and does not participate in Special Rounds counseling, his/her Seat Acceptance Fee will be refunded back after deducting Rs. 7,000.
- Josaa Counselling Full Details
- If no seat is allotted to a candidate (who is NOT already holding any seat) in the Special Rounds, his/her Participation Fee will be refunded back after deducting the processing fee of Rs. 4,000.
- If no seat is allotted to the candidate (who is NOT already holding any seat) in the Special Round-I and the candidate withdraws from Special Round-II, his/her Participation Fee will be refunded after deducting the processing fee of Rs. 4,000.
- If a candidate gets a seat allotted in Special Round-I and his/her seat gets cancelled (due to reasons specified here), his/her Participation Fee and Seat Acceptance Fee (if paid) will be refunded back after deducting Rs. 7,000.
- If a candidate gets a seat allotted in Special Round-I (or retains the seat secured in JoSAA rounds) and opts for “Surrender”, and does not get a seat in Special Round-II, his/her Participation Fee and Seat Acceptance Fee (if paid) will be refunded back after deducting Rs. 7,000.
- If a candidate gets a seat allotted in Special Round-I (or retains the seat secured in JoSAA rounds) and opts for “Withdraw”, his/her Participation Fee and Seat Acceptance Fee (if paid) will be refunded back after deducting Rs. 7,000.
- If a candidate gets a seat allotted in Special Round-I and his/her seat gets cancelled due to ineligibility or in-appropriate document noticed during document verification, his/her Participation Fee and Seat Acceptance Fee (if paid) will be refunded back after deducting Rs. 7,000.
- If a seat is allotted up to Special Round-II (i.e. seat allotted in JoSAA/Special Round-I and retained for next round OR seat allotted afresh in Special Round-II), his/her Participation Fee and Seat Acceptance Fee (if paid) will not be refunded whether the candidate joins the allotted Institute or not. The fee of such candidates will be transferred to the Allotted Institute.
- If a candidate has been allotted a seat in Special Round-II and his/her seat cancelled due to ineligibility or in-appropriate document, his/her participation fee and Seat Acceptance Fee (if paid) will not be refunded.
CSAB Counselling 2026 Choice Filling
Central Seat Allocation Board has commenced the CSAB NEUT choice filling on June 23 at the official website. The last date to complete the CSAB NEUT 2025 choice filling is 30th June 2025. The choices filled by candidates during JoSAA counselling are not acceptable, and candidates have to fill fresh choices for CSAB 2025 counselling. There is no limit on the number of choices filled by the candidates. After filling in the choices, the candidates will have to ‘Save’ & ‘Lock’ the choices so that the seat allotment result shall be processed.
- Registered candidate will be able to fill/re-arrange his/her choices where all the seats of NITs/IIITs/GFTIs will be displayed for which that candidate is eligible as per his/her category.
- All registered candidates are required to fill fresh choices. Earlier filled choices will not be considered in this round of seat allotment.
- Josaa Counselling Full Details
- Candidates who have already secured Admission and want to participate in the special rounds while retaining the currently allotted seat are also required to fill fresh choices.
- All valid choices will be shown to the candidate except the secured seat. Their last allotted seat (Secured Seat) will automatically be considered as the last choice in the set of choices.

- Freeze: If the candidate is satisfied with the seat allotment and does not want to participate in Round 2, ‘Freeze’ is the option that must be chosen.
- Slide: If the candidate is looking for a better course allotment within the same institute, ‘Slide’ is the option that must be chosen. In such cases, the allotted seat will be accepted and will be cancelled only if the candidate gets a better allotment.
- Float: If the candidate is looking for a better institute allotment, ‘Float’ is the option that has to be chosen. . In such cases, the allotted seat will be accepted and will be cancelled only if the candidate gets a better allotment in the second round.

CSAB Neut Counselling
The government of India has a scheme of reservation of seats in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Pharmacy courses conducted at degree-level technical institutions approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Universities for North-Eastern (NE) States and Union Territories (UTs), which do not have Engineering Colleges or lack facilities for education in specific fields of Technical Education and for certain categories.
By order of the Ministry of Education vide Office, the CSAB-2025 shall conduct CSAB-NEUT rounds through its online portal (https://CSAB.nic.in) to allocate seats under the above scheme to candidates of North-Eastern states and Union Territories. CSAB NEUT Counselling Schedule 2025
CSAB NEUT Eligibility Criteria
The exam authorities have released some conditions which will have to be met by the candidates to be eligible for the admissions process. If they are not able to satisfy these eligibility criteria of CSAB NEUT 2025, then they will be disqualified from the admission process.
Domicile – All of the candidates should meet the domicile requirements of any of the eight Northeastern states (Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura) or four Union Territories (Dadar & Nagar Haveli, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Daman & Diu, and Lakshadweep).
Educational Qualification – Candidates should have-
- Secured a rank in JEE Main 2025. B.E./B.Tech Paper for B.E./B.Tech. programs, secured a rank in JEE Main 2025 B.Arch Paper for B.Arch. programs
- Appeared in the Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination in the year 2023, 2024 and 2025 will be eligible for admission through CSAB NEUT-2025 provided they fulfill all other eligibility requirements.
- Candidates appearing for class 12th examination in 2025 and if their result is not yet declared, they can submit their XII pass certificate by December 31. In case, if the candidate fails in class 12th, his/her admission will be cancelled

CSAB Supernumerary Counselling Dates
The process begins with registration and choice filling from August 24 to August 26, 2025, followed by the seat allotment result on August 27. Candidates must complete document upload, seat acceptance fee payment, and verification by August 28, while physical reporting at allotted institutes is scheduled from August 27 to August 30, 2025. Note: physical verification of PwD candidates is mandatory during institute reporting.
