Indian Institute of Information and Technology (IIIT) Guwahati, Assam was established in 2013 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). IIIT Guwahati is one of the twenty new IIITs settled under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP). The institute was declared as an “Institute of National Importance” under the Parliament Act 2017. IIIT Guwahati (IIITG) campus is located on a 67 acres plot.
It offers admission to the Bachelor of Technology (BTech), Master of Technology (MTech) and Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD) programmes. To make the students focus much on the academic part they are provided with well-equipped infrastructural facilities along with a serene environment. Boys Hostel Around 400 students are accommodated at the boys’ hostels along with dining rooms, recreational facilities, attached restrooms, and others as needed by the students. Water and electricity supply around the clock along with fast accessing internet connection is available. Different cultural and festival activities are celebrated to have a friendly atmosphere.
Girls Hostel Shared and single rooms are there at the hostels for the students along that other basic amenities. Incoming and outgoing students strictly adhered to the timings. For the proper functioning of all things, wardens visit the hostels. Rooms are refurbished with necessary basic amenities. Around 100 students are accommodated at the hostels.
Medical/Hospital The institute is provided with a health centre wherein the students can reach the site for the first aid facility. When the need for an emergency arises students are provided first aid facilities at affordable prices.
Library There are around 1214 volumes of books published and various e-journals subscriptions from ACM, JSTOR, and IEEE along with 218 papers and 3698 conferences. There are research papers, newspapers, academic reference books, literature books, and magazines.
