IIIT Bhubaneswar is an initiative of the Government of Odisha and has been registered as a society in Nov 2006. In January 2014, the Institute was converted to a University by the Government of Odisha. The institute, which spans 23 acres, is a Unitary Technical University recognized by the University Grants Commission (India). Located in Gothapatna, Bhubaneswar, The institute provides UG, PG, and doctoral degrees in engineering and information technology.

IIIT Bhubaneswar’s 4-year flagship program is the BTech program, with a total intake of 300 seats. IIIT Bhubaneswar Admission to the BTech program is based on JEE Main rank, followed by JoSAA counselling. The last round JEE Main cutoff for the BTech program at IIITB ranges from 32893 – 41744 for the general category. In the 2024 NIRF rankings, IIIT Bhubaneswar secured the 201-300 rank in the ‘Engineering’ category.

IIIT Bhubaneswar Placement 2025 recorded an impressive performance with 214 students placed out of 238 eligible, achieving an overall placement percentage of 89.92%. The highest package reached ₹56.2 LPA, while the average and median packages stood at ₹8.5 LPA and ₹7.5 LPA, respectively. A total of 70 on-campus companies and 20 off-campus companies participated, making 270 on-campus offers and 22 off-campus offers. Branch-wise placements remained strong with B.Tech CSE (94.64%), IT (97.96%), and CE (90.20%) leading the charts.
