Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar National Institute of Technology or NIT Jalandhar as a university was established in 1987 initially as the “Regional Engineering College” and then Deemed to the status of “National Institute of Technology” by the Government of India in 2002. The university has been declared the “Institute of National Importance” by the Government of India and the Indian Parliament in 2007. The NIT Jalandhar has secured 72nd position under the overall category and 46th rank under the engineering category in NIRF 2023 Ranking.

It provides high-quality technical education in several streams of engineering, and sciences. NIT Jalandhar has a faculty strength of 208 teaching staff and 4067 students. The campus area of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar National Institute of Technology covers 154 acres. NIT Jalandhar is a co-educational campus with 16 departments and is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation.

NIT Jalandhar placements 2023 achieved a placement of 73.79% till now. More than 110 recruiters visited the campus and made offers to the 950 eligible students. A total of 796 offers were received by the students and 95 double job offers. Among the eligible students 701 students were placed and the NIT Jalandhar highest package stood at INR 51 LPA. Established in the year 1987, and later the central government gave this institute the status of National Institute of Technology (Deemed University). The central government has renowned this institute as the “Institute of National Importance”. NIT Jalandhar has been ranked 46 by NIRF 2023 in the ‘Engineering’ category and 72 in the ‘Overall’ category. Dr B. R. NIT Jalandhar is conducting its placement drive for the batch passing out in 2023. As on Mar 7, 2023, NIT Jalandhar recorded 73.79% placement rate in the academic year 2022-2023. The highest and average package offered during the NIT Jalandhar placement 2023 stood at INR 51 LPA and INR 12.44 LPA, respectively.

NIT Jalandhar Campus Facilities

The university provides a large number of facilities for students. NIT Jalandhar facilities are modern and upgraded as per the latest standard. The varsity has individual hostels for boys and girls that offer comfortable stay to students. National Institute of Technology Jalandhar facilities are a library, gym, cafeteria, medical centre, auditorium etc. NIT Jalandhar campus has indoor and outdoor sports facilities as well. Entire campus of the university has wifi connectivity for students and faculty members. Transportation services, department-based laboratories, guest house, bank etc. are a few more NIT Jalandhar facilities available for students.

Boys Hostel The NIT Jalandhar hostels are residence halls and are available for the students with a reading room, washing machines, indoor games and internet facilities. In addition, it also has water coolers and water purifiers. There are 10 boys hostels.
Girls Hostel There are Three Girl’s Hostels. The facilities of reading room, indoor games, washing machines etc. are available in each hostel. Internet facility is provided in most of the hostels. Other facilities like geysers, water purifiers and water coolers are provided in all the hostels. The hostel facility is available to the regular students who are on the rolls of the institute depending upon the availability. The students who wish to stay with their parents or guardians outside the campus for short period may be allowed to do so with the permission of the competent authority.
Medical/Hospital The NIT Jalandhar dispensary acts as the main medical facility present in the institute for treatment of different diseases and providing emergency first aid for students. The dispensary is secured with a lab facility to carry out testing and in case of a medical emergency, it has an ambulance to provide 24-hour care to the nearby hospital.
Gym The NIT Jalandhar Gymnasium is the physical and fitness Centre available for students with some indoor sports such as table tennis and badminton and they maintain the high standards required for an academic Institution.
Library The NIT Jalandhar library is a 3 tier building present in the middle of all departments and accessible over an area of 1540 square feet. The library has more than 1.03 lakh books volumes along with CD-ROMs, video cassettes in engineering science and technology. The video library is secured with audio-visual station, TV, multimedia projector, video cassettes.
Sports NIT Jalandhar sports facilities offer recreation for their physical and emotional well-being and allows them to compete in indoor and outdoor games.
I.T Infrastructure The college has excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students.

Convenience Store The NIT Jalandhar shopping centre helps to give students and residents with groceries, provisions and other essential items. There is also a bookshop associated with the shopping centre and the students can avail of shopping services and xerox facilities.
Banks/ATMs NIT Jalandhar banking service has two banks available within the campus such as State Bank of Patiala and Canara Bank. Both of these bank facilities act as regular branches in the campus with function ATMs and they are used for on required banking services for students staff and others.
